The CARS certification program closes the window of legal liability for creditors and forwarders concerning their contracted repossession company service providers. The CARS certification program was written by licensed Florida educators with hands-on experience, in conjunction with Hudson Cook, LLP, one of the nation’s preeminent law firms in the area of consumer financial services. The CARS certification covers all state and federal law that impacts the self-help repossession process and it has been put to the test in a court of law proving the recovery agent acted lawfully. And, CARS is accepted by industry leading lenders and forwarders in all 50 states.

Financial Client Certification
The CARS-FC certification program was designed for financial clients including forwarding companies and lending institutions to gain a comprehensive understanding of the state and federal laws that apply to self-help repossession. In collaboration with top lenders and Hudson Cook, RISC developed the certification curriculum specific to financial clients who are not performing the actual repossession but still handling sensitive customer information that leads to asset recovery. The course includes examples and detailed explanation of federal laws governing self-help repossession such as Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Dodd Frank prohibition on Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices, Gramm-Leach Bliley, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. The course takes the participant through all aspects of the repossession transaction from federal and state laws and regulations to crimes and best practices.
Financial Client Certification

Maintain Annual Certification
As state and federal laws change, it is critical to stay educated. Continuing education courses from RISC are required for recovery agents to maintain CARS accreditation and include the latest industry regulations. Each course is reviewed and maintained in conjunction with Hudson Cook, LLP, the leading law firm in the auto finance industry. Only one course is required annually to maintain your certification.
